- The state’s only academic medical center: UAMS is Arkansas’s only academic medical center. Our medical students train in facilities and with faculty that are unparalleled physicians in Arkansas.
- Engaging and innovative curriculum: We have a student centered, active learning curriculum. We use flipped classroom, active learning techniques in much of our curriculum. Not only does it provide a more engaging educational experience, it also results in better long-term retention. We believe that this results in graduating better doctors.
- Great primary care training: We are nationally ranked in primary care training. US News ranked the UAMS COM as #4 for primary care training in the U.S. in 2024. Whether you are interested in a primary care specialty or not, you’ll get outstanding training at UAMS.
- Honors enrichment tracks: UAMS has a number of honors tracks that allow our students to gain a deeper understanding and a richer experience in areas of their interest. Honors tracks available include research, global health and service, underserved primary care, medical humanities, child health, and innovation and entrepreneurship.
- Traditional four-year program and an accelerated three year program: This allows students with an interest in primary care to complete the M.D. program in three academic years, entering Residency Programs directly. - One medical school, two campuses. Our students can choose whether they want to attend medical school at the UAMS Little Rock campus or at our UAMS Northwest campus in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
