What are your particular clinical interests?
Coming from rural Oklahoma, I value community outreach and hope to work with medically underserved populations. I am looking forward to forming meaningful relationships with my patients and focusing on preventive measures to achieve better health outcomes. Clinically, I am particularly interested in addiction medicine, women’s health, infectious diseases, and the management of diabetes.
Why did you choose Family Medicine?
Throughout my life and medical education, I have witnessed the significance of human connection, both generally, and regarding physical and mental health. Prioritizing a holistic approach and emphasizing the doctor-patient relationship, Family Medicine as a specialty gives me the privilege of not just being “a doctor” but rather “someone’s doctor.” I also value the versatility Family Medicine offers and the opportunity it provides to practice full spectrum medicine in a variety of settings.
Why did you choose the Little Rock Family Medicine residency program?
Going through interview season during the COVID-19 pandemic, I was unable to physically visit programs. Even with this format, everyone at UAMS Little Rock was incredibly welcoming and made me feel right at home on interview day. UAMS Little Rock has many attributes I was looking for in a program. Its extensive procedural training, community outreach opportunities, structured didactics, and outstanding faculty are just a few. Additionally, I am so grateful that after calling Arkansas home for the last four years during medical school, I am lucky enough to continue my residency training here at UAMS!
What are your hobbies and interests outside of medicine?
I really enjoy being outdoors! Living in Arkansas there are luckily a lot of opportunities to get outside. My boyfriend Reid and I love exploring by taking our canoe out on the river or hiking with our Goldendoodle, Patrick. When I get the time, I love a good girls’ weekend or spending a day with my family for a pontoon boat ride in Oklahoma. I love watching live music, trying new restaurants, and drinking coffee while listening to a podcast or watching an epic series like Game of Thrones.
