What is your home town?
I was born and raised in Cali, Colombia — famously called the “Salsa Capital of the World” (Capital Mundial de la Salsa) and “The Branch Office of Heaven” (La Sucursal del Cielo).
Where did you attend medical school?
Universidad Libre de Cali Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud in Cali, Colombia.
What are your particular clinical interests?
My areas of interest include preventive medicine. I like to effectively communicate the importance and benefits of early intervention and having healthy lifestyle changes which improve the quality of life and decrease the risk of complications.
Why did you choose Family Medicine?
I honestly believe that you need to love what you do. Family Medicine allows me to embrace what I am most passionate about: Lifelong learning, integrated management of disease states, and teamwork. Most of all, I enjoy the opportunity to treat patients with a wide variety of conditions and positively impact their health and the community in which they live.
The most gratifying part of being a physician is having the opportunity to listen to patients’ unique stories and connect on an individual level. This allows you to provide a higher level of care that goes beyond clinical.
Why did you choose the Little Rock Family Medicine residency program?
After extensive research seeking a residency program that allows me to serve better the community and enables me to push myself further every day, I chose Little Rock Family Medicine for multiple reasons. I felt a true connection with the residents, attendings, staff, and directors with whom I had the opportunity to interact.
I was impressed with how much the program director Dr. Kraleti cared and all the effort he puts in to improve the residency program, making it each day the best learning experience. I also loved that UAMS is an academic program that gives me an opportunity to train in the university setting. I loved the program structure the facility and the caring and passionate staff.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of medicine?
Outside of medicine, I enjoy dancing, listening to music, painting and making personalized balloons.
