What is your home town?
Where did you attend medical school?
Donetsk National Medical University, Donetsk, Ukraine.
What are your particular clinical interests?
My latest interests have been in the areas of obesity and diabetes, nutrition, and human behavior. I intend to focus my future practice mainly around the concept of preventive medicine and to treat the entire patient. I also enjoy being a part of an intercultural group, to learn from different cultures, and take the best practices.
Why did you choose Family Medicine?
I like Family Medicine because it is an excellent field that allows to follow your patients throughout their life journey and become a part of the community. Also it provides exposure to the full spectrum of problems and issues in medicine, so for me it is a good representation of what I really want from my medical career – to be versatile and skillful in different areas.
Why did you choose the Little Rock Family Medicine residency program?
I would say that it was a combination of things. During my interview day I found myself being on the same page with faculty and residents. Everybody was exceptionally nice and supporting. And of course the UAMS Family Residency program, with its academic environment, provides intensive clinical experience, opportunities for performing numerous procedures and doing research. I felt like it would be an excellent place for training and living.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of medicine?
Outside of medicine, I like spending time in the company of good friends and family. I enjoy listening to and reading books. My favorite topics are human behavior, microbiome, epigenetics, obesity and of course novels and world literature, my favorite authors being Erich Maria Remarque and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. For my own well being, I love to play squash or tennis, to do yoga, and if time and place allow, to go for a long walk or hike.
