The UAMS College of Medicine (COM) Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) plays a crucial role in overseeing the quality of residency and fellowship programs and ensuring compliance with ACGME standards, in partnership with the COM Designated Institutional Official.
The COM GMEC is accepting nominations for resident/fellow representatives to this body for academic year 2025-26. Three (3) residents or fellows will be selected to serve as peer-elected voting members. This is a valuable opportunity to gain leadership and administrative experience in academic medicine at the institutional level.
Final representatives will be selected by a vote of the GME Housestaff community.
Nomination deadline: July 7, 2025.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Current UAMS COM resident or fellow in good standing within an ACGME-accredited program.
- PGY 2 level or higher in academic year 2025-26.
- Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and interest in graduate medical education.
- Ability to commit time and effort to attend monthly in-person COM GMEC meetings and related GMEC subcommittee activities during the 2025-26 academic year.
Importance of Attendance:
Active participation is essential. The selected representative will:
- Attend monthly COM GMEC meetings in-person from August through May.
- Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
- Serve as a member of a GMEC subcommittee.
- Collaborate with fellow committee members to oversee compliance with ACGME requirements.
Consistent attendance is a core responsibility of this role. To ensure continued trainee representation, absences may result in replacement.

Interested individuals may self-nominate or be nominated by a peer, program director, program coordinator or faculty member. Using the online nomination form, submit the following:

All complete applications will be reviewed by the COM GMEC Executive Working Group. A final list of approved nominees will be peer-selected by COM Housestaff via an online voting process.
