Medicine and Meaning logo

 

Medicine & Meaning is a UAMS online literary journal that serves as a vehicle for artistic expression – in the form of fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry and images – by the UAMS community, including students, faculty and staff.

 

Submission Guidelines

Written Work

  1. May include poetryfiction (e.g. short stories), creative non-fiction (including essays).
  2. Submissions must not exceed 5,000 words.
  3. Email submissions to medicineandmeaning@uams.edu in MS Word format, double spaced, 12-point font, with title and page numbers clearly marked.
  4. The work submitted should not have been published previously.

 

Images/Photography

  1. Up to 4 images/photographs may be submitted at a time, each of high definition, in JPEG or TIFF formats (300 dpi or higher).
  2. Each photograph must be appropriately titled – captions are optional; titles and captions may be submitted separately, in MS Word format.
  3. An essay of approximately 1,000 words to accompany the photographs may be submitted separately, in MS Word format. The essay can address the photographs, or be a story of the photographer’s life and motivation.
