We are seeking an educational leader who will collaborate with our vice chair of education (fellows) to elevate pediatric education across the continuum, attracting the best and brightest into our training programs. Expertise in education and other leadership experience is therefore preferred. This vice chair position is dedicated 40% FTE.
Opportunity Highlights
- Oversee pediatric medical student and resident education within the Department of Pediatrics
- Communicate and collaborate with the UAMS Designated Institutional Official and the pediatric associate DIO to ensure pediatric training programs meet and exceed accreditation standards
- Develop, implement and coordinate the Department of Pediatrics strategic plan for education, with a focus on improving the quality of education provided, and the quality of applicants choosing to train in our pediatric programs
- Collaborate with DIO, associate DIO, and vice chair of education (fellows) in implementing a plan for growth of high-quality pediatric training programs
- Partner with the pediatric residency director and medical student education director in advancing innovations in the residency training program and pediatric UME education
- Interface with education champions in each academic section and with specific programs to provide advice and assistance on educational projects and improvements
- Collaborate with operational leaders to expand opportunities for training in education
- Maintain a budget that allows for the efficient management of the pediatric Office of Education, and expansion of educational projects throughout the Department
- Coordinate and continue to grow the CME offerings of the Department of Pediatrics, including Grand Rounds, Health Equity Rounds, Schwartz Rounds and others
- Work with the director of alumni affairs to build new alumni programming and services
Practice Is Based at Arkansas Children’s Hospital
The Arkansas Children’s system includes two hospitals, a statewide care network of clinics and outreach programs, a research institute and a foundation. Arkansas Children’s is the only pediatric health system in the state of Arkansas, providing coverage to the state’s children from birth to age 21. The hospital staff consists of more than 500 faculty, 200 residents and 4,400 support staff.
