Conferences and Meetings

There are several regularly scheduled conferences that fellows are required or encouraged to attend. These include conferences within the Neonatology Division and Department of Pediatrics, and other Departments as deemed appropriate. The following is a list of the most frequent conferences.

Neonatology Division Meeting

Meets weekly. Focused continuing education for Neonatology faculty and fellows in a variety of formats including journal club and invited speakers as well as neonatology section business

NPM Fellow Didactics

Meets weekly. Didactics focused on review of core topics in Neonatology targeted at Neonatology Board preparation.

NPM Fellow’s Case Conference

Meets every first Tuesday to allow fellows and faculty to discuss recent interesting cases, to present alternatives to care that was provided, and to reflect on improvement opportunities.

NPM Fellow’s Journal Club

Meets on odd months on the third Tuesday.

Neo 101

Meets during July and August of each year as a prolonged orientation course to allow transition from residency into fellowship. It focuses on high-yield topics necessary to jumpstart the NPM fellows’ clinical and practical knowledge.

Pediatric Grand Rounds

Meets every second and fourth Thursday. Department-wide participation and a variety of topics

Pediatric Fellow Core Curriculum

Meets every second Monday. Three-year cycle of topics common to all pediatric fellows on ACH campus

OB-Neo Conference

Meets quarterly on fifth Wednesday. This is a combined Obstetrics and Neonatology Conference with perinatal case presentations.

NICU-Surgery Conference

Meets every fourth Thursday, a combined Neonatology and Pediatric Surgery Conference with surgical case presentations.

UAMS NICU Performance Review

Meets every third Tuesday to discuss specific M and M issues at UAMS, present ongoing QI data from the ACH NICU, allows fellows and faculty to discuss recent interesting cases, to present alternatives to care that was provided, and to reflect on improvement opportunities.

ACH NICU Performance Review

Meets every third Wednesday to discuss specific morbidity and mortality issues at ACH, present ongoing QI data from the ACH NICU, allows fellows and faculty to discuss recent interesting cases, to present alternatives to care that was provided, and to reflect on improvement opportunities.

Fetal Anomalies and Interdisciplinary Management (FAIM)

Meets every third Friday. Multidisciplinary conference to discuss difficult pregnancies with identified fetal anomalies or complications requiring neonatal and/or pediatrics medical and surgical subspecialty care.

PEDS Place

Meets every first and third Thursday for a weekly teleconference education on a variety of pediatric topics with discussion from participants around the state. Once per month is a neonatal topic.  Neonatal and pediatric ANGELS Guidelines are presented and peer reviewed.

Obstetrics-Gynecology Grand Rounds

Meets every Wednesday

ANGELS High Risk OB/GYN Conference

Meets Thursdays. Presentations of interesting OB cases and OB/GYN evidence- based guidelines

Cardiac Catheterization Conference

Meets Mondays. Discussion of patients with congenital heart disease and upcoming interventions planned for repair or palliation
