We want to better understand how nutrition and physical activity change the health of mothers and children and for that we are inviting volunteers from Central Arkansas to participate in clinical research studies. The research studies evaluate the impact of nutrition, exercise, and other lifestyle behaviors in pregnant women, children, and infants.

Our pregnancy research studies are designed to look at how the health and lifestyle of a mother may influence the health of her child. To thank participants for their time, monetary and/or diaper compensation may be provided.
- Expecting – The Expecting study is a long-term nutrition research study designed to determine how the health and physical activity of a mother during pregnancy could affect the growth and development of her child. This study is for moms who are currently less than 12-weeks pregnant and have a BMI over 30.
- Moon – The Moon Study is a nutrition research study designed to look at how the health of a mother can influence her child’s brain development. This study is for moms who are currently less than 12-weeks pregnant and have a BMI of either 18.5-25 or greater than 30.
- Community Expecting study is a translational research study through the Arkansas Children’s Nutrition Center and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences designed to adapt a clinical exercise program for expecting women into community settings. In other words, this study is for moms who are not currently active but may be interested in beginning to exercise during pregnancy. We are seeking women who are: Currently less than 15-weeks pregnant, Have a BMI over 30, Not using illicit drugs, Not regularly exercising, Non-Smoker.
