Join the dedicated team of scientists at the Center For Translational Neuroscience in finding more effective treatments, implementing prevention measures, and translating research into cures.
Be A Part Of The Cure
We are dedicated to bringing laboratory findings quickly to the bedside, speeding the treatments for devastating brain diseases for the good of all Americans.
We have been recognized as a Center of Biomedical Research Excellence by the National Center for Research Resources of the National Institutes of Health.
In less than 3 years we have been able to make several significant advances in tinnitus, sleep and spinal cord injury; recruited excellent new faculty that are experts on stroke, chronic pain and sensation, and developed state-of-the-art facilities in molecular biology, electrophysiology, transcranial magnetic stimulation, and community based medicine.
Why do we need your help?
Because public funding is declining and philanthropy can make the critical difference.
You can help someone with a spinal cord injury walk again.
You can help someone with a stroke suddenly pay attention to a neglected part of their world.
You can help stop the ringing in someone’s ears that drives them to distraction.
You can help find the cause and cure for chronic pain.
You can help determine why a teenager suddenly begins to hallucinate.
You can help.
Why you?
If not you, who else?
Be A Part Of The Cure
The funds donated will become part of the Endowment for the Center for Translational Neuroscience. The Endowment will use only the interest collected to fund research areas designated by the donors and/or run the operations of the CTN. The money you donate will stay permanently in the fund to help support future generations of researchers.
We need …
Endowed Chairs for senior research faculty. We need Chairs to recruit new faculty and to retain our best and brightest faculty. We need to expand our research capacity to include at least one senior scientist in regeneration research. We spend hundreds of thousands recruiting faculty who bring millions in grant funds but, as leaders in their fields, become targets of other universities seeking to lure them away. Endowed Chairs are the cure.
Operations costs. We have several Core Facilities that require trained professionals and expensive supplies.
Molecular Biology Core detects genes coding for rare proteins in minute amounts.
Electrophysiology Core can separate subpopulations of ex-preterm adolescents so that treatments for their long-term deficits can be more successful.
Human Physiology Core uses Motorized Bicycle Exercise Training to alleviate excessive reflexes and help prevent muscle atrophy after injury or stroke.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Core is developing new treatments for tinnitus and other disorders.
Image Analysis Core can visualize the transport of molecules from brain cell to brain cell.
Community Based Research and Education Core links 15 clinics around the State to bring our expertise in caring for low birth weight babies using weekly telemedicine conferences for research and education.
Leadership Core is designed to provide the tools and resources to develop creative leaders who will guide and transform academic services for translational research and higher education in the twenty-first century. Administration Core can handle the myriad of forms and regulatory issues required by research on humans and animals.
An endowment can keep this well-oiled machine running …. permanently.
