Message from the Program Director
Thank you for your interest in the UAMS Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Program, a three-year ACGME-accredited program accepting one fellow each year. The program focuses on training highly skilled and compassionate pediatric endocrinologists as well as academic subspecialists, through extensive exposure at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital, the only dedicated pediatric hospital system in the state of Arkansas. Completion of our program will permit the subspecialty fellow to meet all requirements of the sub-board in pediatric endocrinology of the American Board of Pediatrics.
For this purpose, the fellows participate in a robust educational curriculum led by board-certified pediatric endocrinologists; participate in medical student and resident education; undergo extensive clinical exposure in several multidisciplinary clinics as well as general diabetes, endocrine and weight management clinics; pursue scholarly scientific work comprising clinical and/or basic science research and to disseminate knowledge through teaching and publication.
Beyond the educational curriculum, I am also proud of the work-family connection within our program, and we remain committed to fostering a sense of community and compassion during this training for our fellows. To accomplish this, we support our fellows with a strong emphasis on their well-being and with multiple programs in place as needed.
I am excited to show you more about our program as you review our website. I hope you are able to sense the dedication of our close-knit program to teaching not only the fundamentals of child endocrinology but in fostering a desire to provide comprehensive care to underserved and vulnerable patient populations. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. I look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Associate Professor of Pediatrics
Medical Director of the Arkansas Children’s Pediatric Thyroid Nodule and Cancer
