Welcome to the University of Arkansas for Medical Science’s Clinical Psychology Internship Interviews! Since we conduct virtual interviews, we understand it may not be possible for you to visit Little Rock; therefore, we would like to bring some of Arkansas and Little Rock to you through the resources on this page.
Little Rock is the capitol of Arkansas, and home to the main UAMS campus as well as the UAMS Child Study Center, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, and the Pulaski County Crisis Stabilization Unit. Little Rock offers beautiful natural settings, vibrant arts and cultural attractions, an amazing culinary and beverage scene, and exciting year-round events and festivals.
Here are some of the attractions you can visit while in Little Rock.
Arkansas is nicknamed the, “The Natural State” for its natural beauty. Everyone who visits our state agrees. All four corners of our state offer unique landscapes, state and national parks, and attractions. There is something here for everyone to enjoy.
Here are some great places around our state you can visit while on internship.
For specific information on some favorite places, we’ve included several local guides for dining, local neighborhoods, schools (K through high school), hiking and biking trails, dog parks, state parks (yes, we have a diamond mine), a Presidential Library, Museums, Civil Rights history tour, local arts and attractions (Broadway Series), and the River Market District, just to name a few.
Metro Guide
If there is a “handbook for Little Rock,” then perhaps the Little Rock Metro Guide is it. The Little Rock Metro Guide is very useful to interns and fellows that match to us. Here, you will find a neighborhood guide (great info when picking out apartments) that describes the different neighborhoods in Little Rock as well as shopping centers and restaurants available in those areas. The Little Rock Metro Guide includes extensive school information for children, information for pets (vets and parks), world class healthcare (of course, UAMS is listed), and a few tips on transitioning to Arkansas. You can check out the Little Rock Metro Guide here: Little Rock Metro Guide
In addition to the Little Rock Metro Guide, please see the digital editions of the Little Rock Guest Guide, which visits specific shops and restaurants within the Little Rock area: Little Rock Guest Guide , and Arkansas Love Where You Live Guide, which shows you some really popular places you should visit while in Little Rock and Arkansas: Arkansas Love Where You Live .
