MSK Research Pilot Project Details
Goal
The UAMS MSK Creativity Hub is requesting applications for research Pilot Projects in the area of musculoskeletal biology and disease (bone, muscle and cartilage). Topics include, but are not limited to, cancer and the MSK system, nutrition and MSK, MSK pathophysiology, mechanobiology, hormones and the MSK system, MSK bioinformatics.
Eligibility
All investigators with Faculty positions at UAMS are eligible to submit proposals as single investigators, in collaboration with other investigator(s), and/or combination of junior or established investigators. Preference will be given to projects that could lead to extramural multi-PI applications.

Applications will be accepted through September 15, 2022.

Format
Proposals must be of maximum 3 pages.
Page 1: Specific Aims
Page 2: Approach/Experimental Design
Page 3: Expected Results, Future Plans (detailing how results of the pilot project will translate into a larger grant application), and Budget with Justification (Allowed categories are Personnel, Equipment, Supplies, Animal Expenses, Other Expenses).
Evaluation procedure
Applications will be ranked 1-5 (1 best) by a UAMS internal panel
of reviewers.
1. Applicant(s) will be evaluated by standing in the field and potential for driving
the project into a full size extramural proposal.
2. Proposal will be evaluated by its innovation, feasibility, integration with the
UAMS MSK Hub, and MPI/collaborations.
3. Overall score will rank suitability of the Investigator(s) and Project to grow into
a successful extramural grant proposal.
Award Information
Funding
The funding is provided by the UAMS Musculoskeletal (MSK) Creativity Hub and administered by the College of Medicine, Office of Research.
Award Budget
$20,000 for a 12-month period. Four (4) meritorious projects will be awarded.
Award Project Period
Twelve months maximum. All funds must be expended by the end of the project period.
