Welcome
I want to take this opportunity to welcome you to the College of Medicine’s Executive Coaching program. Let me start by giving you some background of how this program developed. The concept of having an executive coaching program within the College of Medicine was championed by Dean Susan Smyth. She had experienced the profound, positive effect of executive coaching in her own life and understood its value. Her desire was to provide faculty with this unique resource for their own personal and professional development. Her vision was to see a cohort of faculty trained and credentialed through the International Coaching Federation (ICF) within the College of Medicine who could then provide executive coaching to peers as an enhancement tool and a perk for being part of our faculty body. UAMS has a variety of coaches, but our coaches have been through programs which focused their training to meet the ICF standards. Our coaches have received certification through their various programs and are working on credentialling through the ICF. Identifying ways to help faculty be successful in their own personal growth and career journey was extremely important to Dean Smyth and the culture she sought to establish.
Within our coaching program, the focus is on you, your strengths, your challenges, your ability to attain your desired goals. It is about helping you take that next step, design your future, to achieve personal growth and career satisfaction.
An executive coach will work with you to learn about you and your desired goals. You have the ability within yourself to achieve what you desire, and your executive coach will help you develop personal awareness and identify strategies as you take action-steps toward your goal. You chart your course and your future.
Executive Coaching is a unique opportunity within the College of Medicine to provide professional growth, develop personal awareness and cultivate skill while setting future goals . We are honored to partner with you on your journey. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

College of Medicine Executive Coaching
Introduction
We train and invest much in our career education, but despite this, often we find some aspects of our job may encompass things that were not part of our medical training. Leadership roles, managerial oversight, program development, situational workplace challenges may all fall within this realm. One may even seek to further hone skills and prepare for future roles within their institution or to achieve personal or professional goals which they have not had time to pursue. If you can relate to any of these, then executive coaching can be very beneficial for you.
