Education is a Primary Part of Our Mission

Not only do our doctors provide care for patients, but they also teach medical students as well as physicians who have chosen to receive additional training in the care of older adults.

  • College of Medicine students are required to complete a rotation in geriatrics.
  • Weekly Geriatric Grand Rounds – Held on the second, fourth and fifth Friday every month at 8:00 a.m., the Geriatric Grand Rounds features lectures by invited guests and faculty.  Continuing Education credit is available and the public is invited to attend.  The weekly lecture is held in the Jo Ellen Ford Auditorium on G/level of the Reynolds Institute on Aging.
  • Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit – Each year several opportunities are available for doctors and other health professionals to attend conferences at the Reynolds Institute on Aging that provide continuing education credit.
  • Geriatrics Fellowship – Doctors who have completed residencies in Family and Community Medicine or Internal Medicine may choose to receive specialized training in the care of older patients.  This one or two-year course of training qualifies them to become certified in Geriatrics.
