Hometown: Benton, Arkansas
Medical school: UAMS
Fav thing about UAMS Internal Medicine Residency? The autonomy. The patients you see will be YOUR patients. We have great attendings who give you plenty of space and freedom to make decisions but are always nearby to help redirect if needed.
Fav thing about living in Little Rock or Arkansas? Traffic. We don’t have it.
What you want to do with your life? Pulmonary/Critical Care. Like most everyone who starts out in PCCM I am hoping to focus my practice with a mix of critical care and pulmonary clinic with more time in the ICU early on in my career then phasing more towards clinic later.
What do you do outside of the hospital to relax/have fun? Right now, it’s making pizza. Quarantine introduced me, and apparently everyone else, to making your own doughs and breads. We started making homemade pizza and realized how complicated bread is, so I bought this book “Flour Water Salt Yeast” and am trying to learn how to make a perfect pizza crust. If you didn’t know it, yeast is way harder to find than toilet paper now. Thanks COVID. Also, I would say golf, but I suck so it ends up becoming more frustrating than relaxing.
Fun fact about yourself that not a lot of people know? I started shaving in the 6th grade. I had just moved to town and this one girl didn’t know my name and referred to me as “the mustache man”. Not mustache “boy” even though I was 11, mustache “MAN”.
Anything else you want the world/future applicants to know about yourself? Any of you are always welcome to stop by for Pizza Night and to play with my dog Pepper. She is legit the best dog. Still trying to figure out how to keep her in the workroom without anybody knowing.
