Medical Training
Dr. Azhari received his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford in May 2022. He graduated with honors and is a member of the AOA.
Achievements
Dr. Azhari received his bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago in June 2018 and graduated with honors. He was also actively involved with research as he worked at the University of Illinois College of Medicine on research regarding Limb Girdle muscular dystrophy. Once in medical school, Dr. Azhari remained engaged with research with an interest in Ophthalmology, quality improvement, and wellness. Dr. Azhari was published for work regarding corneal endothelial wound healing and remained active with the Ophthalmology department at the University of Illinois on longitudinal studies involving the cornea. He also implemented multiple quality improvement efforts as his work with a local hospital updated their anesthesia guidelines pre-surgery. During his senior year he also spent time with the Loyola University Ophthalmology department where he assessed Ophthalmologist burnout in an academic setting, serving as a basis for future research.
Service
Dr. Azhari enjoys serving the community. During his time at the University of Illinois in Chicago, he was involved with teaching as he volunteered with the UIC Prep High school where he served as a lab aid and tutor. He also founded a private tutoring service for undergraduates to assist non-native English speakers with their core science classes. During medical school, he continued his private tutoring for undergraduate students and expanded to multiple college campuses across Illinois. He also remained active with his local community as he organized local events during the COVID-19 pandemic such as clothes and food drives.
Outside Interests & Hobbies
Dr. Azhari loves sports, most notably soccer and basketball, video games, and spending time with friends and family. He enjoys trying new things, traveling new places, and is always looking for great food.
