Justin C. Quon, M.D.

Medical Education

Justin Quon, M.D.

Dr. Justin C. Quon received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California in May 2024.

Academic Achievements

Dr. Quon graduated summa cum laude from California State University Los Angeles, where he received his Bachelor of Science with Departmental Honors in biochemistry and minors in mathematics and biology. He was also a graduate of the Honors College and the Early Entrance Program. Dr. Quon received a full merit-based scholarship and was awarded the Most Outstanding Thesis Award for his departmental thesis in cryobiology.

Afterwards, Dr. Quon graduated from the USC Keck School of Medicine with a distinction in research. He was selected as a Dean’s Research Scholar, where he conducted extensive research in histocompatibility and solid-organ transplantation. During this time, he discovered a novel human leukocyte antigen and demonstrated methods for improving the standard of care in donor-recipient matching. He also worked on informatics research in ophthalmology involving common data models. Dr. Quon has presented his work at prestigious national and international conferences with over 30 abstracts and publications. Notably, he also holds a patent for the use of low-level laser therapy in preventing the progression of diabetic retinopathy, with two additional patents pending for laser treatment of Herpesvirus infections and vitiligo depigmentation.

Service

Dr. Quon has a long-standing dedication to community service and improving access to healthcare. As President of the Golden Key International Honor Society in college, he secured funding for scholarships to be distributed among the student body. In medical school, he was the Executive Chair of the USC Student Run Clinic, where he collaborated on the development of the interdisciplinary Wellness Center clinic, a health consultation initiative for underserved patients at the Los Angeles General Medical Center. He was the Research Chair of the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association at USC, where he conducted educational classes such as pig heart dissections at local schools. He also designed and taught classes about the SARS-CoV-2 virus and vaccine development for local middle and high school students during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Interests and Hobbies

As an accomplished ghostwriting composer, Dr. Quon loves spending his time playing piano and writing Japanese pop ballads. He also has a large fountain pen collection and holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He enjoys playing video games and looking for great boba places.
