Training
Dr. ElSheikh received her medical degree from Cairo University Medical School in 2013 and graduated at the top of her class. She completed her internship year at Cairo University Hospitals in March 2015. She trained as an Ophthalmology resident, graduated in 2018, and was appointed Assistant Lecturer of Ophthalmology at Cairo University Hospital. She was a short-term scholar at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Achievements/Accomplishments and Milestones
Dr. ElSheikh completed a Master of Visual Sciences from Cairo University in 2018. She also completed the first part of the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Ophthalmology) and the first and second parts of the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO). Dr. ElSheikh is currently completing a Master of Public Health from the University of Massachusetts. Academically, she co-authored over 20 PubMed-indexed publications.
Service
During her training, Dr. ElSheikh volunteered at the Children’s Cancer Hospital in Egypt. She also mentored medical students. During residency, she volunteered in several medical convoys providing eye care to various parts of underserved areas in Egypt.
Outside Interests and Hobbies
Dr. ElSheikh is originally from Egypt. She enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors, exploring new places with her family. She also enjoys nights spent binging Netflix shows while eating ice cream.
