Dr. Scott Murphy received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center – School of Medicine in May 2024.

Achievements

Dr. Murphy graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences from Auburn university. He went on to attend the University of Mississippi Medical Center for medical school where he graduated as a medical research scholar. During his time in medical school, he founded the student safety advisory board which worked alongside campus police leadership and the chancellor’s office to improve campus and hospital safety through the implementation of new technology, personnel, and training. He also had the privilege to be selected as a Student Alumni Representative and serve as an ambassador for the institution.

Service

In medical school, Dr. Murphy was a director at the Jackson Free Clinic which served all uninsured patients in the city of Jackson and surrounding area. During his time with the clinic, he played an integral role in establishing the annual fundraising gala which helps fund clinic operations. He also founded and secured grant-funding for the Jackson Free Clinic Research Symposium, which provides a platform for the presentation of local and regional research that focuses on health disparities and underserved populations. However, treating and building relationships with the patients of the free clinic was the highlight of his time serving at the clinic. Outside of his work with the free clinic, he enjoyed working with TOP soccer, which is a recreational sports program for children and adults with intellectual or physical disabilities.

Hobbies

Dr. Murphy enjoys watching all college sports, with his favorite being Auburn football and basketball. In his free time, he enjoys all things outdoors, having time to work out, and playing pickup soccer.
