Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellow 2022-2023
Dr. Kornhauser, a driven ophthalmologist, was born and raised in Israel and is the eldest son of four siblings. Following in his father’s medical footsteps, he attended medical school in Budapest, Hungary, where he graduated summa cum laude from Semmelweis University, 2011.
Dr. Kornhauser returned to Israel and continued his journey with a very successful internship at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, completing with Distinction; followed by an ophthalmology residency at Soroka University Medical Center, Beer Sheva: This is where his passion for oculoplastics blossomed and led to a local fellowship in Oculoplastics at Hadassah Medical Center, Jerusalem.
Dr. Kornhauser believes that his career in oculoplastics provides him the opportunity to combine medicine with his creative talents; ones which have been manifested for many years through his dedication to art and computer graphics. An element of particular interest is the diversity of technical approaches to the same problem; allowing for creative solutions.
When he is not working, Dr. Kornhauser takes much pleasure in exploring new restaurants and foods and considers himself to be quite the foodie! Another significant part of Dr. Kornhauser’s life is his volunteer work in his role as Clinical Director for Opening Eyes (Special Olympics Israel), inspired by his sister Lin, who has an intellectual disability.
Dr. Kornhauser is thrilled to be contributing and representing Jones Eye Institute at UAMS and is excited for the opportunity to utilise his skills to develop the future of oculoplastics.
