
Examples of Faculty Involvement in DEI

Thomas Kelly, Ph.D., Associate Director of Cancer Research Training and Education at the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer, brings cancer education modules to underrepresented minority students at Hall High School in Little Rock and Pine Bluff High School. This is a collaboration with UAMS DDEI as part of the Pathways Academy.
- Dr. Eric Yee is a member of Pathologists of Chinese Descent Subcommittee for the Chinese American Pathologists Association
- Dr. Zhiqiang Qin is member of the UAMS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Faculty Committee
- Dr. Thomas Kelly is a member of the UAMS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Strategy Team and has over a decade of experience serving on the institution’s Minority Recruitment and Retention Committee, which he chaired for a number of years. He also is involved in teaching cancer education modules to underrepresented minority students (a collaboration with UAMS DDEI as part of the Pathways Academy)
- Dr. Sara Shalin recently published “Demographics and perceptions of diversity in dermatopathology workforce and training environments in the United States” in the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology (2022)
- Dr. Aubrey Hough is a member of the DDEI veterans committee
- Dr. Aaron Wyble is a mentor for underrepresented students in the Medical Scholars in Public Health Program
