ACH and UAMS Daycare Facilities
The Child Enrichment Center at ACH and UAMS Child Development Center are available for children of residents from infant to four years old.
Educational Fund
A resident’s USMLE/COMLEX Step 3 will be paid for by the Department of Pediatrics. Educational funds are contingent upon a resident staying in good standing with the program and hospitals.
Free Parking
Reserved parking is provided at ACH and UAMS in covered lots that are connected to the hospitals.
Insurance
Medical, basic life, basic long-term disability and professional liability insurance coverage are provided to all residents. Dental, vision and spouse and dependent coverage are available at an additional charge.
Lounge Space
Designated spaces furnished with computers, couches, TVs, video game consoles and sleep rooms are available for resident use while at ACH.
Meals
At the beginning of the academic year, ACH will load $1,100 onto the residents’ badges for use in the ACH cafeteria, up to $20 a day. While on rotation at UAMS, meals are furnished on a per-call basis. Meals are provided during Academic Half Days, Noon Conferences, and Morning Report.
Membership Dues
The program pays for membership in the American Academy of Pediatrics, which provides residents with Red Book Online.
Tuition Discount
A resident’s spouse and dependent children receive a 40% tuition discount for undergraduate training for institutions that are a part of the University of Arkansas system.
Vacation
Three weeks of paid vacation are provided annually plus days off during the Christmas or New Year’s holiday.
