Meagan Kingren, Ph.D. was awarded the prestigious 2025 SHOCK Society Research Investigator Fellowship award entitled “Understanding the Mechanisms of Muscle Catabolism and Weakness Following Burn with Secondary Sepsis” will not only establish a clinically relevant preclinical model of burn with secondary sepsis, but also identify why sepsis development after burn injury is uniquely severe in its metabolic and muscle weakness complications. https://www.shocksociety.org/research-investigator-fellowship
Dr. Kingren was also selected as a finalist for the 2024 Shock Society Young Investigator Award for her work on quantifying the role of ambient housing temperature in the hypermetabolic response to burn injury.
Meagan Kingren, Ph.D. was the recipient of ACRI/ABI Postgraduate Award is to “Characterize Post-Sepsis Skeletal Muscle Weakness in Mouse and Pig Models of Sepsis” and identify therapeutics to reduce chronic sepsis complications.
