Eradicating Disease Through Education
The Pediatric Infectious Disease division is actively involved in education from the undergraduate to medical student, resident and fellow level of training, and practicing faculty member scope of practice. Members of the Pediatric Infectious Disease division actively participate in the Summer Undergraduate Research Program (Summer Science Program – ACRI) and ongoing medical education programs such as the Practice of Medicine shadowing program for first and second-year students.
In addition to ongoing didactic teaching for medical students on their pediatric rotations, the Pediatric Infectious Disease division offers a fourth-year medical student elective for internal and external medical students and leads the second-year medical school curriculum on entering clinical practice, “Transition to Clerkships” (Heather Young, M.D., MSc Course Director).
Additionally, the Pediatric Infectious Disease division provides ongoing Continuing Education through active involvement in the Department of Pediatric Grand Rounds and PedsPlace series, Arkansas Academy of Pediatrics presentations, and the Annual ID Update providing continuing education for providers across the region.
