Celebrating Outstanding Efforts In Electronic Health Records
The Section of Clinical Informatics is excited to unveil the MI HERO Program – Medical Informatics Highlighting EHR Overachievers. This innovative recognition initiative is the brainchild of the Arkansas Children’s Medical Informatics Officers (MIOs). It is specifically designed to honor and celebrate the exceptional contributions of our care team members who leverage the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to significantly enhance patient care.
The MI HERO Program aims to spotlight those outstanding individuals who not only excel in their use of EHR but also embody the spirit of innovation and efficiency that is crucial in the modern healthcare landscape. By acknowledging their exemplary practices, we hope to inspire a culture of excellence and continuous improvement among all our care team.
Tomoko Tanaka, M.D., Section of Neurosurgery
Dr. Tanaka is leading a pilot for using ambient listening AI to aid providers with documentation. “I was impressed by how well it isolates relevant details, even with multiple people in the room. It’s been a game-changer for documentation— just last week, I completed notes easily for 30 patients I saw at NW in one day. What stood out most was how responsive it is to feedback; it’s continually getting better at focusing on the specifics I need.”
Celebrating Our HEROs
Each month, our dedicated MIOs will carefully select a MI-HERO, whose achievements will be prominently featured on the UAMS Clinical Informatics website. This spotlight will offer a comprehensive overview, including:
- The Identity of the MI-HERO: Introducing the awarded individual to the broader hospital community.
- The Reason Behind the Recognition: Explaining the specific actions or initiatives undertaken by the MI-HERO that led to their selection, highlighting the direct impact on improving patient care.
- The Significance of Their Best Practice: Providing a broader context to understand the value and effect of these practices from the perspective of EHR users, emphasizing how these efforts contribute to the overarching goal of enhanced healthcare delivery.
- Educational Resources: Offering links and resources for further information on the best practices employed by the MI-HERO. This aims to foster a learning environment where other staff can explore and implement similar EHR functionalities to improve their workflow and patient outcomes.
Through the MI HERO Program, we seek not only to recognize the extraordinary achievements of individual team members but also to foster a culture of knowledge-sharing and innovation. By highlighting these best practices, we encourage all staff to explore new ways to utilize the EHR effectively, ultimately leading to better patient care and operational excellence.
