Developmental Pediatrics

Welcome from the Chief

Welcome to the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH). Thank you for visiting our site today!

I am Dr. Jill Fussell, Professor of DBP, and Division Chief. I joined UAMS/ACH in 2002. My colleagues and I have worked tirelessly to achieve exceptional growth in our programs. Our educational and clinical focus spans a spectrum of neurodevelopmental and behavioral disorders, focusing on early intervention, assessment, and family-centered care. We are also leaders in the community, through efforts to build diagnostic confidence among rural physicians within the AR CoBALT (Community-Based Autism Liaison and Treatment) program.

Our faculty are a collegial and diverse collection of competent, collaborative clinicians, who are also institutional and national leaders in DBP, and in medical education.

Our faculty, fellows and staff are committed to enhancing the health of all children through excellence in clinical care, education, research, and service. Within our Division, we are committed to recruiting and retaining fellows and faculty with diverse backgrounds and life experiences, enhancing the quality, depth and range of care we can provide, to the families and community we serve.

2018 Pediatrics Research Fellows Day

DBP Faculty and Fellows hosted Dr. Franklin Trimm of the University of South Alabama for our Fellows Research Day.

Our faculty particularly value interdisciplinary care, coordinating closely with other disciplines such as psychology, speech-language pathology, nursing, social work and others. This allows us the opportunity to fully appreciate an individual child’s profile of strengths and struggles, and develop a comprehensive, individualized plan, to maximize children’s outcomes.

On behalf of our Division,  I invite you to continue browsing our site, and experience for yourself the components and programs of the Division of DBP. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Jill J. Fussell, MD
