Research Resources

This page is “one-stop shopping” for all UAMS College of Medicine members involved in various research pursuits. Whether you’re a first-timer or a veteran investigator, these Research Resources provide useful tools/links at your fingertips to save you time and augment your research success.

  • Arkansas All Payer Claims Database (APCD) – Arkansas Insurance Department (AID) / Arkansas Biosciences Institute (ABI) / Arkansas Center for Health Improvement (ACHI); Arkansas APCD Data Request – Instructions and Guidelines
  • Arkansas Research Alliance – is an online platform that shows research instrumentation and accompanying services available at laboratories across the state.
  • Basic Sciences Instrumentation Service Request – Repair and service of research equipment (e.g., plate readers, imagers, etc.)
  • Biomedical Informatics – a department within the College of Medicine develops computational tools to assess and manage medical and public health information.
  • Biosafety – provides biosafety information,  forms, policies, and training links for UAMS researchers
  • Biostatistics – provides expert statistical guidance to clinical, health services, and biomedical scientists
  • BioVentures – links UAMS research minds to global markets in order to advance Arkansas’ scientific and economic development
  • CLARA – electronically submit and track all clinical research projects administered by the Office for Research and Sponsored Programs
  • Comprehensive Informatics Resource Center (CIRC)  – links to informatics resources for clinical and translational research
  • Compliance – provides compliance consultations for the entire research community
  • Core Research Facilities – offers descriptions, capabilities, and contact information for various UAMS shared and core facilities.
  • DLAM – provides ordering, husbandry, and research method assistance regarding animals (UAMS Intranet link)
  • Equipment Repair – request for instrumentation services.
  • IACUC – reviews and approves all research protocols that involve animal models. (UAMS Intranet link)
  • IRB – approves, disapproves, or require modifications of research activities, as well  as working in conjunction with other university or institutional committees.
  • NIH Public Access Policy – mandatory submission to PubMed, following journal article publication acceptance; inclusion of PubMed ID# when referencing these articles in NIH grant submissions
  • Office of Research Regulatory Affairs – provides essential support to enable the development of well-designed, ethical studies that balance regulation with innovation
  • ORIS – Office of Research Information Systems implements an integrated information management system that enables faculty, research staff, administrators and compliance officers efficiently to procure and administer grants, contracts and sponsored programs.
  • ORSP – facilitates pre-award grants, contracts, subcontracts and industry-sponsored agreements process
  • OSPAN – provides sponsored programs administration to all stakeholders of UAMS.
  • Pivot-RP ExLibris – This is a global source used to accelerate the research process, provide access to research funding opportunities, and facilitate collaborator discovery.
  • REDCap – REDCap is a secure, web-based application for building and managing online surveys and databases.
  • SciCom – provides editorial, grant, and manuscript preparation services as part of OSPAN.
  • Shared Equipment – Provides a list of commonly shared equipment in the College of Medicine. Prior to booking or contacting the point of contact for equipment be sure to review the shared equipment guidelines.
  • Showcase of Medical Discoveries – summaries of events where UAMS investigators discuss their research and discoveries (e.g., Cardiovascular, Nanomedicine, Telehealth, Bone, etc).
  • TRACKS – (Total Research and Compliance Knowledge System) contains COI and Grants logins.
  • Translational Research Institute (TRI) – clinical research functions, access to research tools, collaboration, educational programs, and to request assistance with research projects
  • UAMS Resources and Services Database – a searchable tool created primarily to aid researchers who are writing grant applications. It provides annually updated narrative overviews of UAMS colleges, institutes, centers, and other entities. Many of the research services described in the database can be requested through the Translational Research Institute website, TRI.uams.edu.
