Mission Statement
The primary mission of the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship Program is to provide fellows with the training to become leaders in surgical critical care and to improve access to highly specialized surgical critical care specialty physicians in the state of Arkansas.
Program Overview
The Department of Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences offers a one year ACGME-accredited fellowship in surgical critical care.
Positions
One approved position annually
Prerequisites
- Qualified applicants include surgical residents on track to complete their training prior to the start of fellowship.
- Applicant training may be in the following specialties: General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Urology
- Exceptional candidates who have completed three years of General Surgery Residency training will be considered.
History
The Surgical Critical Care Program was started in 2017 at UAMS, a large tertiary referral center and the only ACS Verified Level 1 Trauma Center in the state.
