COVID-19 Statement

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant disruptions to medical education across the country. We understand that students’ anxiety about the upcoming application cycle has been heightened given the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 related changes to curriculum and scheduling and how this will affect the residency application process.

How to Apply

Thank you for your interest in the dermatology residency program at UAMS.

Applications for residency are accepted only through the ERAS system. The application deadline is October 20, 2022 for consideration for entry into the program on July 1, 2023. The dermatology residency program at UAMS is a categorical program. PGY-1 interns complete a preliminary year in Internal Medicine and are expected to function in a similar capacity to categorical Internal Medicine interns during that year.

The Department of Dermatology has set a recommended minimum Step 1 score of 235 and three letters of recommendation to be considered for acceptance into the program. The NRMP provides information to applicants regarding successfully matched applicants including average Step scores for dermatology. USMLE Step 2 CK is not required for the application, but it is strongly recommended.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, opportunities for in-person away rotations are severely limited. Our program absolutely recognizes the impact of COVID and will take all of these factors into account as we review applications.   We are planning to offer virtual open house for applicants and will have dates after application review.

Virtual Interviews will be held on December 2, 2022 and December 9, 2022 for this year’s applicants. There will be ample time for Q&A with residents and faculty during the interview day and once interviews are completed.
