The UAMS College of Medicine (COM) Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) plays a crucial role in overseeing the quality of residency and fellowship programs and ensuring compliance with ACGME standards, in partnership with the COM Designated Institutional Official (DIO).
The COM GMEC is accepting nominations for program coordinator representatives for academic year 2026-27. Two program coordinators, one fellowship program coordinator and one residency coordinator, will be selected to serve as voting members of the committee. This is a valuable opportunity to gain leadership and administrative experience in academic medicine at the institutional level and contribute to discussion that impacts graduate medical education across the institution.
Nomination deadline: May 1, 2026.
The selected representative will:
- Attend monthly COM GMEC meetings in-person from August through June.
- Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
- Participate as a member of a GMEC subcommittee.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be a current UAMS COM residency or fellowship program coordinator.
- Have a minimum of three years experience as a GME program coordinator.
- Demonstrate the ability to commit the time and effort to attend monthly in-person COM GMEC meetings and participate in related GMEC subcommittee activities during the 2026-27 academic year.
- Representatives are expected to attend at least 70% of GMEC meetings.
