Welcome from the Division Director
Thank you for your interest in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Arkansas for the Medical Sciences.
Our division is committed to scholarly excellence in all areas of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Our educational commitment is marked by our successful Fellowship program, which currently trains three fellows each year. We have regular educational conferences, including successful joint conferences with the Departments of Surgery, Pathology, and Radiology. Our scholarly commitment is highlighted by significant contributions to the literature by all of our full-time faculty members, research faculty and trainees, and fellows. We also have a monthly research conference, featuring invited leaders in academic gastroenterology. Our clinical commitment is demonstrated by our full service inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology care provided at UAMS Medical Center and the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital. We feature excellence in such important areas as transplant hepatology, advanced endoscopy (including ERCP and EUS), and third space endoscopy, among others.
This is a time of great growth for our division, and the support of our institution has been fantastic. We sincerely strive to balance academic excellence with humanity, and this will continue to be a key to our success. I am speaking for all of our faculty members when I state that we would be delighted in participating in collaborations with interested investigators. Please do feel free to contact us at any time.
Sincerely,
Mauricio Garcia Saenz de Sicilia, M.D.
Director, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology
