Apply to the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship Program

Overview

The UAMS Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship Program is a challenging three-year clinical and research experience that will allow fellows to build the foundation for a career in gastroenterology and hepatology.

Candidates for our program must complete three years of internal medicine in an ACGME-accredited program.

At this time, UAMS and its ACGME-accredited residency and fellowship programs sponsor only J-1 visas for international medical graduates. This policy reflects national and institutional requirements and is not based on applicant qualifications. We welcome applications from all eligible candidates and encourage international applicants who require visa sponsorship to apply under the J-1 visa pathway.

Applicants who require new visa sponsorship must apply under the J-1 pathway, as UAMS will not sponsor new (consular or change of status) H-1B visa petitions at this time. This decision is subject to change if federal guidance is revised.  UAMS may consider H-1B extension, amendments, or transfer for candidates already in the United States.

Should federal policy change—including any waiver of the H-1B petition cost for healthcare workers—UAMS will re-evaluate its visa sponsorship capabilities and update this policy accordingly. Applicants are encouraged to check back for further updates.

For information on other non-immigrant visa types, or if you have questions, visit the UAMS Immigration Services page, or contact UAMS Immigration Services at AskImmigration@uams.edu.

Application Submission

The Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology participates in the Electronic Residency Application System. You may begin submitting your applications July 1.
