Welcome to the Anatomical Gift Program!
Welcome to the Anatomical Gift Program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).
An anatomical gift is the donation of an individual’s body after death. The UAMS Anatomical Gift Program (AGP) allows one to donate their body, as a gift, to the Division of Clinical Anatomy in the Department of Neuroscience at UAMS.
Human bodies are an indispensable aid in medical teaching and research. The basis of all medical knowledge is human anatomy; which can only be learned by a study of the human body. Without this study there could be no doctors, no surgery, no alleviation of disease or repair of injury. The need for anatomical donation is great and will be further increased by the demand for more doctors, nurses, physical therapists and other members of the health service professions. Donating one’s body is a selfless gift to healthcare education, likely improving the quality of life for countless patients in the future.
The AGP provides donor materials to medical science programs throughout the state of Arkansas. All programs operate in a controlled environment under the supervision by faculty and trained professionals who abide by the highest ethical and scientific conventions. Dignity and respect for the donors is our highest priority next to the quality of education an anatomical gift provides.
For information about the AGP and how to apply to be a donor, please see the Frequently Asked Questions page. To contact us, please call the UAMS Anatomical Gift Program at 501-686-7019 or send email to AGP@uams.edu.
