STATs/M&M (Morbidity & Mortality) Conference
STATs conference is a weekly discussion of case lists from the assigned services of Obstetric, Gynecology, or Gynecologic Oncology, Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery. This conference is structured similar to the ABOG oral exam such that resident team members are questioned on the selected topics with increasing difficulty as they progress through the residency program. Consider it four years of “mock” oral exams in preparation for the ABOG Certifying Exam! The resident(s) of the assigned service compiles a list of all cases from the previous weeks, highlighting 10 cases to be discussed. The M&M conference is held every fourth week with an evidence-based presentation of one case per assigned service, with discussion of the patient case, complications, and surgical procedures. Data that is critical to the case, such as X-rays and monitor strips, are typically available and utilized.
Resident Didactics
Attended weekly by residents and senior medical students. This is a core didactic experience of residency and is a review of assigned chapters from selected textbooks and ACOG Practice Bulletins along with a test and discussion pertinent to the CREOG Exam. The recent incorporation of several different podcast and online lectures through the CREOG-supported national curriculum has increased the variety of ways we teach. No more boring lectures! Assigned faculty members lead the discussion.

The Journal Club is a monthly conference presented by residents and designed to foster the ability to critically evaluate the literature. The ultimate goal is to stimulate life-long reading skills.
