Meet Our Fellows

Rachel Mayo, MD
Rachel E. Mayo, M.D.
2024-2027

Dr. Rachel Mayo is from Van Buren, Arkansas. She completed both her medical school and pediatric residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She developed a calling to care for children with cancer and blood disorders during her pediatric residency. She was intrigued by the long-term connections with patients as well as the complexity of medicine. She chose UAMS/ACH because of the family feel of the program and the opportunity to continue to serve the children of Arkansas while getting exceptional training!

Kevin Tharappel, MBBS
Kevin J. Tharappel, M.B.B.S.
2024-2027

Dr. Kevin Tharappel grew up in Sydney, Australia. He completed medical school at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India and internal medicine and pediatrics residency at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. He chose UAMS/ACH because of the great people he met during his interview day!

Farrah N. Gaston, D.O., M.H.S.
2025-2030

Dr. Farrah Gaston is originally from Camden, Alabama. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Biomedical Sciences and Spanish from Troy University and completed medical school at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine - Auburn Campus. She completed her internal medicine and pediatrics residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria, and received a Master of Arts in Hispanic Studies from East Carolina University during that time. She is completing a combined adult and pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship program with plans to focus on adolescent and young adult oncology. She chose UAMS/ACH for its family feel and the faculty’s passion for and support of combined training.

Weston M. Grant, D.O., MSc
2025-2028

Dr. Weston Grant is from Plano, Texas and completed his pediatric residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. This was the time he developed a passion for pediatric blood and cancer patients. He loves learning everything there is to know about the disease processes and treatment modalities for pediatric blood and cancer patients. His favorite part is connecting with his patients and enjoys making them laugh! He tends to think he is pretty funny!

Katie M. Beaton, M.D.
2026-2029
Thomas B. Ferguson, M.D.
2026-2029

Dr. Brent Ferguson is from Jackson, MS. He did both and his medical school and his training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he found his love for Hematology/Oncology, particularly the close patient-provider relationships. He chose UAMS/ACH because of the incredible faculty and fellows he met during his interview, and the opportunity to expand his knowledge close to home! Despite his love for all things Ole Miss, he hopes UAMS/ACH will still embrace him!
