Thank you for your interest in the Child Neurology Residency Program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
Our program offers one categorical Child Neurology position each year through an integrated five-year training pathway. Residnets complete their first two years of pediatric training within the UAMS Pediatric Residency Program at Arkansas Children’s, followed by three years of neurologic training. Applicants apply only to the Child Neurology Residency Program through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS); a separate application to the UAMS Pediatric Residency Program is not required.
Applications are accepted exclusively through ERAS. For the 2026-2027 recruitment season, applicants may begin submitting application on September 2, 2026, and programs may begin reviewing application on September 23, 2026.
IOnterviews for the 2027 Match will be conducted virtually on select dates in November and December. Our interview day is designed to give applicants the opportunity to learn about our clinical and educational experiences while also getting to know the residents, faculty, and close-knit culture of our program.

What qualifications are required for applicants?
Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements established by UAMS Graduate Medical Education and the ACGME. International medical graduatesx must meet applicable ECFMG requirements prior to appointment. Please refer to the current UAMS GME Recuritment and Appointment Policy for complete eligibility requirements.
Do you accept foreign medical graduates?
Yes. We welcome applicants from international medical graduates who meet UAMS GME and ACGME eligibility requirements.
At this time, UAMS and its ACGME-accredited residency and fellowship programs sponsor J-1 physician visas for intrnatoinal medical graduates who are outside the United States. Applicants who are currently in the United States and hold valid H-1B status or are legally eligible to change to H-1B status may be considered for H-1B sponsorship on a case-by-case basis. UAMS does not currently file new consular H-1B petitions for individuals outside the United States.

Do you require clinical experience in the United States?
No, Previous U.S. clinical experience is not required.
Is there a limit on the number of years since graduation from medical school?
No, we have no stipulation regarding the number of years since graduation from medical school.
What are your USMLE or COMLEX requirements?
There is no minimum USMLE or COMLEX score required to apply. To be considered for an interview, applicants must have successful completion of any step of the USMLE or COMLEX in no more than three attempts.
We use a holistic approach to application review, with consideration of the applicant’s experiences, accomplishments, personal attributes, academic record, letters of recommendation, and other components of the application in addition to examination scores.

Interviews for the 2026-2027 recruitment season will be conducted virtually. Additional information, including interview dates and the format of the interview day, will be provided to applicants who receive an invitation.
