Candidates must have completed a four-year ACGME accredited training program in general psychiatry and be eligible for an Arkansas State Medical License.
The UAMS Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship Program application process follows that which is outline on the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law website (www.aapl.org/fellowship). The forensic psychiatry fellowship programs use the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and the National Residency Match Program (NRMP).
The key dates for the 2027-2028 Academic Year application process are:
- July 1, 2026 – Applicants may apply to forensic psychiatry fellowships via ERAS.
- July 15, 2026 – Forensic psychiatry fellowship programs begin to review applications on the ERAS platform.
- July 15, 2026 and after – Forensic psychiatry fellowship programs interview applicants.
- August 5, 2026 – Match Registration opens.
- September 2, 2026 – Ranking opens.
- September 23, 2026 – Quota Change and Withdrawal deadline.
- October 7, 2026 – Rank Order List Certification deadline.
- October 21, 2026 – Match Day. Unfilled/Unmatched Lists available.
Applications should include:
- A personal statement
- Three (3) letters of recommendation
- Two general writing samples: These may be forensic reports, authored articles or papers, or psychiatric evaluations.
- These may be entered on ERAS under “Publications” or emailed to Dr. Wilbanks
