Robert “Bob” Shields Abernathy, M.D.
Dr. Abernathy graduated from Duke University School of Medicine, served as a physician in a U.S. Army MASH unit in Korea in 1952, and went on to earn his doctorate in microbiology. Abernathy served as faculty and chair of the UAMS Department of Internal Medicine and was awarded the Distinguished Faculty Award for his contribution to medical education and public health.
