George William Stanley Ish, M.D.
Dr. Ish was a prominent, highly esteemed African American physician in Little Rock who was instrumental in the establishment of several hospitals and the state tuberculosis sanatorium for African Americans. Ish graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1909 and pioneered the use of new, effective medicines for the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis.
