Welcome!
The Division of General Internal Medicine at UAMS is composed of a diverse group of over 20 Internist and Med-Peds trained faculty members, APRN’s and staff. We are united in the mission to deliver superior quality evidence-based care and medical education for the state of Arkansas.
We provide patient-centered inpatient care by leading General Internal Medicine ‘Ward teams’ and Consultative Care teams at the UAMS Medical Center. We offer a similarly patient-centered focus in our ambulatory care teaching and direct care operations in our two on-campus clinics and in a number of UAMS Neighborhood Clinics across Central Arkansas.
Members of our division have critical leadership roles in the medical education of UAMS students and house officers; and have been recognized as some of the best educators on the UAMS faculty, as validated by multiple teaching awards every year. Our faculty regularly facilitate learner participation in scholarly activities through clinical reports, patient-care based research, and quality improvement. The majority of scholarly productivity by the members of our division has been in medical education, guideline development, implementation and analysis, thromboembolism prevention, treatment, and improvement in adult immunization practice.
The educational and clinical interests of our faculty include (but are not limited to) comprehensive primary care, evidence-based medicine, adult immunization, venous thromboembolism, quality improvement, cancer-survivorship care, care of young adults with chronic medical illness in the transition to adult care, perioperative medical consultation and cost-effective care.
