The UAMS Hematology/Oncology Fellowship is deeply committed to fostering diversity and inclusion within our program. We aim to create an environment where all fellows feel valued and supported. To this end, we strongly encourage applications from candidates of diverse cultural backgrounds. Our mission is to lead in delivering culturally competent, patient-centered care. We are dedicated to cultivating a supportive atmosphere where every fellow can thrive and find fulfillment as an integral member of our team.
At this time, UAMS and its ACGME-accredited residency and fellowship programs sponsor only J-1 visas for international medical graduates. This policy reflects national and institutional requirements and is not based on applicant qualifications. We welcome applications from all eligible candidates and encourage international applicants who require visa sponsorship to apply under the J-1 visa pathway.
Applicants who require new visa sponsorship must apply under the J-1 pathway, as UAMS will not sponsor new (consular or change of status) H-1B visa petitions at this time. This decision is subject to change if federal guidance is revised. UAMS may consider H-1B extension, amendments, or transfer for candidates already in the United States.
Should federal policy change—including any waiver of the H-1B petition cost for healthcare workers—UAMS will re-evaluate its visa sponsorship capabilities and update this policy accordingly. Applicants are encouraged to check back for further updates.
