Medical school:
Shenyang Medical College, City: Shenyang, Province; Liaoning, China
Residency:
Baptist Health UAMS Internal Medicine Program, North Little Rock, AR
Favorite aspect of nephrology:
While providing an intellectually stimulating and challenging working environment, it gives me an opportunity to establish long term relationships with my patients, provides multidisciplinary level function and work environment, and the sense of satisfaction of being a specialist while being the best internist at the same time.
Why I like UAMS:
UAMS is Arkansas’ biggest medical academic institute and the nephrology program that we have here is among top programs, nationwide.
Outside of medicine:
Outside of medicine, I’m a nature lover. Forests and mountain tops covered with snow are candy to my eyes.
Favorite activity in Arkansas:
Believe it or not, there are 147 waterfalls in Arkansas, and since I am a nature lover, in my spare time you will probably find me swimming in the lakes under the waterfall.
Favorite restaurant in Little Rock:
With a Pakistani background, spices are a big part of my life, and even though Pakistani food is not readily available, Mexican food provides me the taste I need. I enjoy eating at Chuy’s, a Mexican restaurant.
If I weren’t a nephrologist I would be:
If I was not in medicine, I see myself being a good mathematician. I think part of me choose nephrology for the mathematical aspect of the calculations that we do as a nephrologists in dialysis and acid base disorders.
