The role of the Internal Advisory Board is to provide expert guidance to the Center Director in facilitating the growth and success of both the individual Project Leaders and the overall Center. These board members were chosen based on three considerations:
- All are highly successful investigators;
- All have developed and currently oversee equally successful multi-investigator projects, institutes, or departments; and
- The projects/institutes directed by these investigators have the potential for significant synergy with investigators included in this COBRE award.
The following scientists that serve in an advisory capacity for the Center for Microbial Pathogenesis and Host Inflammatory Responses (CMPHIR) are:
- Larry Cornett, Ph.D., UAMS Vice Chancellor of Research, and PI/Director, Arkansas INBRE
- Edgar Garcia-Rill, Ph.D., PI/Director, UAMS COBRE Center for Translational Neuroscience
- Gregory L. Kearns, Ph.D., President, Arkansas Children’s Research Institute, Senior Vice President and Chief Research Officer, UAMS Department of Pediatrics
- Richard P. Morrison, Ph.D., UAMS Executive Associate Dean for Research and Professor, Department of Microbiology and Immunology
- Laura P. James, M.D., Director, UAMS Translational Research Institute, Associate Vice Chancellor for Clinical and Translational Research, and Professor, COM Pediatric Pharmacology
