Application Process
The Neurology residency program uses both objective and subjective criteria to select applicants. Although USMLE scores do form a component of the selection process, we do not consider it to be the only or the most important factor and take the entire application and interview in account.
The application process meets all requirements of the Equal Employment Opportunity and the Americans with Disability Acts and does not discriminate with regard to sex, race, age, religion, color, national origin, disability or veteran’s status.
We support both H1b and J1 VISA.
How to Apply
Applications from eligible candidates are accepted exclusively through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Only applications that are submitted online are reviewed and considered.
We offer four categorical positions every year. Candidates matching with us for our Categorical Track (PGY-2-4) are guaranteed PGY-1 position at UAMS. A separate application to Internal Medicine is NOT required for Categorical Track.

- Application form
- Curriculum vitae
- Medical school transcript
- USMLE scores
- Three letters of recommendation
- Dean’s letter or MSPQ
- Personal statement

Once an applicant has been found to meet minimal selection criteria, the program coordinator will contact them by email or telephone to schedule an interview.
Interviews
All interviews will be virtual. To accommodate the expected increase in applications our program will be increasing the number of interview dates and interviews we conduct. Generally, applicants will meet with five to seven faculty for 15 minutes each on a weekday morning US Central Time. The Zoom interview day begins with an introduction and presentation, then progresses through interviews in breakout rooms. A schedule will be provided close to interview day for those chosen for interviews. We conclude interview days with a noon resident only session so you can feel free and open to visit with our residents and ask questions with no staff or faculty present.
Appointment/Registration
Orientation scheduled to begin in June 2024. Candidates to the residency training program who match through ERAS are required to assume their clinical duties on July 1. Their appointment in our program cannot be guaranteed should they fail to do so for any reason.
