Dr. Morello Moderated an International Virtual Symposium

Dr. Roy Morello recently moderated an international virtual symposium for young investigators working on Osteogenesis Imperfecta or other rare bone diseases. It was organized by the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation. There were 116 attendees, including speakers and staff.

The OIF accepted abstracts from medical and graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and young faculty (within 10 years of their last graduate degree) working both in the US and abroad. A scientific review committee, led by Dr. Morello, evaluated and selected abstracts for presentation. Investigators were encouraged to share unpublished research.

Areas of research included: Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), Paget’s disease of bone, Generalized Arterial Calcification of Infancy (GACI), Hypophosphatemia, Autosomal Recessive Hypophosphatemic Rickets (ARHR2), Osteopetrosis, Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP), Fibrous Dysplasia and McCune Albright Syndrome, Hypophosphatasia (HPP), Gorham-Stout Disease, Melorheostosis, Jansen’s disease, X-Linked Hypophosphatemia (XLH), Multiple Hereditary Exostoses (MHE), and Multicentric Carpotarsal Osteolysis Syndrome (MCTO).

Selected investigators were invited to present a 10-15 minute overview of their work with five minutes for questions from the audience.
