Thank you to Drs. Frank Simmen, Rosalia Simmen, and Jerry Ware for your contribution to the success of the Higher Learning Commission Site Visit. The following is a letter from Provost Stephanie Gardner about the success of the site visit.
Dear UAMS colleagues and students,
I want to thank all of you who participated in our Higher Learning Commission accreditation site visit. The preparation for this visit included many, many months of gathering information, creating new policies and procedures, developing new programs focused on student success, and evaluating and assessing our educational outcomes. Many of you also participated this week in sessions with the site visitors.
In the exit interview yesterday, the team remarked that they could see that UAMS plays a critical role in our state, that we actively “live our mission” as seen by our COVID-19 response, and that we are actively engaged in our communities. They were complimentary of Vision 2029 and by the fact that they could see that the organization was “building a culture of data-driven decision-making.”
The team also made positive comments regarding our institutional programmatic assessment and our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. The exit interview remarks were preliminary and a full report will be provided within the next couple of months.
A special thanks to Kristen Sterba, Ph.D., associate provost for students and administration, for leading this self-study process.
Thanks again to all of you for participating in this process.
Sincerely,
Stephanie
