The UAMS Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is committed to increasing diversity in the field of PM&R and actively promotes equity and inclusion among our faculty, trainees, staff, and patients. Our goal is to expand the diversity within our department and the field, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical ability, or identity, by promoting diversity-related initiatives and culturally-competent education and patient care.
The department’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee will evaluate the applications and award one scholarship per academic year to a deserving medical student based on merit, scholarship, and need. Students must apply to the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation elective through VSLO and complete the online diversity scholarship application.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must be fourth-year medical students who are members of an underrepresented racial minority group, accepted as visiting medical student in the UAMS Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, be in good standing academically from an accredited medical school in the United States, and complete the four-week rotation. Applicants will be required to submit an application through the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) portal and complete all requirements of the VSLO application.
