Mission
The Mission of the Trauma Rehabilitation Call Center is to target patients who have limitations in mobility, sensation, and other functional abilities by providing call center access for on-the-spot triage and consultation. This access will enhance the quality of life and increase available resources among these patients, families, and rural providers.
At the same time, this program will stimulate health care system cost savings through an efficient around-the-clock and evidence-based mode of care delivery.
Telemedicine
“Formally defined, telemedicine is the use of medical information exchanged from one site to another via electronic communications to improve a patient’s clinical health status. Telemedicine includes a growing variety of applications and services using two-way video, email, smart phones, wireless tools and other forms of telecommunications technology.” (American Telemedicine Association)
The Trauma Rehabilitation Resources Program (TRRP) personnel assist with the facilitation of telemedicine appointments between PM & R physicians and patients. Telemedicine appointments can occur at clinical facilities such as hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, medical clinics, and even in the patient’s home when appropriate.
Call Center
The call center is a 24/7 resource to serve patients with a Spinal Cord Injury or a Traumatic Brain Injury and their providers in Arkansas. Telemedicine appointments for Arkansans living with Spinal Cord Injury and Traumatic Brain Injury can also be made by contacting the call center.
