Engage Parents and Protect Children
UAMS provides two different Strengthening Families classes.
Intro to the Strengthening Families Protective Factors:
This interactive online training will explore the Strengthening Families Framework and the five protective factors. Strengthening Families is a research-informed approach to increase family strengths, enhance child development, and reduce the likelihood of child abuse and neglect. This 2-hour class meets the requirements for Better Beginnings Level 2.

Directors Strengthening Families Self-Assessment:
Directors must complete a course on the Strengthening Families Protective Factors before taking this training. Directors will learn how to use the Strengthening Families Self-Assessment Tool in this 2-hour course. The Self-Assessment helps programs determine how well they are implementing strategies to strengthen families and assists them in developing a practical action plan. Both the self-assessment tool and an action plan are requirements of Better Beginnings Level 3.
